Selected Materials:
These online course archives show the evolution of my approach to online learning. Some classes are very asynchronous in nature, some show the implementation of both asynchronous and synchronous sessions. Missing from these materials are the rich conversations that took place in the synchronous sessions, discussion forums, blogs, online office hours and emails. Some of the media and external links may not be reliable due to age.
ETEC 546 - Winter 2006 This is an example of "old school online course design. This could be used without a LMS and in fact, this version was sent to students on a CD in cases where the student didn't have good connectivity.
ESTM 510 Spring 2011 Philosophy and Perspectives of STEM Education (STEM Foundations). This class shows the use of both asynchronous and synchronous sessions. Missing from these materials are the rich conversations that took place in the synchronous sessions, Skype office hours and emails.
ETEC 674 Winter 2012 eLearning Technologies and Methods. This type of class is designed to be linked into the CMS for students to access.
ESTM Winter 2012 - Online Version Instructional Design for STEM Education. This class was taught as a face-to-face class and as a fully online class. The two classes were differentiated for the students who self-selected the option they preferred. The face-to-face version was for educators, the online version was aimed more at students who wanted an introduction to Instructional Design in a broader context. This shows the change over to the CSS template design which is also designed to be linked into a CMS for students to access.
